EMLA Endowment

Over the past eight years EMLA has established itself as both a preeminent expert and a champion of individual and public rights. However, we have not yet had the good fortune to assure that our essential work continues for the benefit of future generations. To this end, we have established the EMLA Endowment Fund.

The Fund currently holds almost $100,000. With project incomes and from the generosity of EMLA supporters, we will formally begin investing the Fund once we have reached a 300 to 500 thousand dollar threshold. We will begin governing the Fund formally as the EMLA Endowment when we have reached the target of one million US dollars. We hope to accomplish this within two years. You can help us achieve this goal: a contribution to the Fund is a contribution to EMLA's future, the future of Hungary, and the global environment. Donate

Donating Information

We currently accept donations by phone and by mail, and of course, through personal contact. At this time, we are directing all donations to the EMLA Endowment Fund. We will, however, upon request, earmark your donation for the Practical Branch (pro bono legal work), the Scientific Branch (environmental management), the EMLA Student Foundation, or any other current or proposed EMLA program which you would like to support. Donate

Legal Classification in Hungary

EMLA is classified in Hungary as a "highly public interest" organization. This is the most prestigious classification a public interest organization can obtain: it signifies that our activities serve the good of the public as whole rather than just one segment or niche. It also means that our Hungarian donors may deduct 150 or 170 percent of their donation from their tax base, depending on the length of commitment. Donate

Becoming a Friend of EMLA

When you or your company or organization donates to EMLA, you have the option of becoming a Friend of EMLA. When you become a Friend of EMLA, we send you an information packet including our Annual Report. You can specify whether you would like to have your name or company/organization name appear in the upcoming Annual Report or remain anonymous. We will also send you quarterly reports giving an update on our major activities during the period. We will invite you to various EMLA-sponsored events including lectures, conferences, and seminar series. Your input is always welcome! We can communicate with you either through email or by regular post based on your preference (Our preference, of course, is email - less paper!). If you would like to make a donation and NOT receive further updates and information, that is fine too! You can always find us on the web or by contacting us again. Donate
